Project Overview
The investment took place in Lébény, where the development of Scania’s existing truck service center began in April 2024 and is expected to be completed by November 2024. The aim of the project was to enable the site to serve more vehicles simultaneously and to build additional parking spaces and a safer exit to handle increased traffic volumes.
Lajta | Szig was responsible for the full execution of the project as general contractor, including architectural, structural, and infrastructure-related works.
Why Lajta | Szig Was Selected?
The contractor was selected through a competitive bidding process. Lajta | Szig not only met the required technical specifications, but also submitted the most competitive price offer. The company's experience and flexibility—particularly in executing projects adjacent to operational facilities—played a decisive role in the client’s final decision.
Challenges and Specific Features
The greatest challenge was that construction had to take place alongside an actively operating service facility. This required careful scheduling and execution in order to avoid disrupting the site’s daily operations or interfering with customer traffic.
The project was divided into phases, which were carried out in close cooperation with the client. As a result, each stage was completed smoothly and in line with a pre-agreed timeline. Particular attention was given to the integration of a floor-mounted dynamometer—a custom feature specified uniquely for this project.
During implementation, a steel-structure hall was constructed and clad in sandwich panels. These panels provide excellent thermal insulation and a clean, aesthetic finish, while the steel frame allows for fast assembly and long-term structural reliability.
Professional Collaboration and Development
The project placed strong emphasis on collaboration—not only between the design and construction teams, but also through ongoing, day-to-day coordination with the client. Despite the relatively large scale of the construction, the work required precision planning and a high degree of attention to detail, both of which were seamlessly delivered by the Lajta | Szig team. The client expressed particular appreciation for the team’s flexibility and professional conduct, and gave verbal acknowledgment of their positive experience.
As a result of the project, a new, state-of-the-art body repair station was completed, complemented by an expanded truck parking area and a newly constructed exit. The client is now equipped with enhanced service capabilities and infrastructure designed to accommodate increased vehicle traffic.
This project serves as a strong example of how an operational facility can be successfully expanded without compromising its day-to-day functioning. Achieving this required thorough preparation, professional expertise, and continuous collaboration with the client throughout the entire process.
